Fun Food Photo Everyday in 2012

78/365 – Last week was Week #1 of Restaurant Week here in Boston which I try to take full advantage of. Shaun and I went to a restaurant in the North End called Marco where we ate a four course meal! We left stuffed to the brim but every course was delicious… including my appetizer: Ricotta and mozzarella fritters with pomodoro sauce!

79/365 – I won’t bore you with a picture of my entree because I’m sure you can already guess what it was. I’ll give you a hint… Marco is an Italian restaurant… You guessed it! Bolognese! I will, however, show you what my second course looked like: Insalata Caprese ( a.k.a. field tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, olio novo, balsamic reduction). What you might not be able to see is the FRIED basil leaf – what an interesting addition!

80/365 – Here is a snapshot of the cream cheese filling I whipped up for some whoopie pies – hold tight for that post on April 1st!

81/365 – I was lucky enough to staff an event in NYC last week which meant I got to see my family! Most of them I hadn’t seen since Christmas! The night I came home, Mama whipped up some pasta with string beans and tomatoes – yummy!

82/365 – It was beautiful on Long Island most of the days I was there. We took full advantage of the warm weather… My stepdad cooked some flank steak and asparagus on the grill and I made some yellow rice to go along with it.

83/365 – When I was home I also got to see my Nonna. I absolutely adore her cooking but I feel bad making her slave over a stove on a nice day so my sister, her and I went out to lunch. It was Friday, and it’s still Lent, so I ordered Spaghetti Primavera in a Garlic and Oil sauce. It’s sad that I forget how good a dish like that is until I’m forced to eat something vegetarian.

84/365 – We did stop back at her house for a snack or two after lunch… she had made a Bean Salad for my sister to take home with her. I took a picture because everything she makes is beautiful but unfortunately I don’t like beans!

I'm just an Italian girl with a love for food - no surprise there! I think cooking and baking for family and friends creates the best memories.
